Paul McCartney and the fountain

Day 3 in Kyiv:
Having recently found out that Paul McCartney was putting on a concert (independence concert) in Kyiv on mainstreet Kreshchatyk TODAY!!! I had to go, just because it's such a neat and rare occurrance. So....I went and yes watched the Paul McCartney perform live (and for FREE) in Ukraine. Aaand, as has been the theme of the last 3 days, it decides to rain starting 2 hours prior to the concert - and I mean not just rain, but torrential downpour - no joke.

Anyhow before the concert I went for supper with some americans, a brit and and australian, they're super fun and then we trekked to the concert - in the torrential downpour, the sky was absolutely black! We climed some big hills wading through water up to our ankles (thank goodness for shorts and sandals!) ...and ended up getting side-soaked by a car that drove by us, oh yeah.

I ended up doing pretty well and was kind of proud of myself in my rain jacket and recently purchased umbrella UNTIL, about 20 mins pre-concert while trying to find a good spot to watch Paul I fall in a moat up to my armpits! Again - no joke. I was following a couple of the guys taking a shortcut through a fountain with calf-deep water...except for the middle portion which I didn't notice and upon stepping into took me in up to my waist. Not expecting such a drop and since the concrete was slippery I proceeded to slide in up to my armpits. Needless to say my umbrella was now uneccessary and I was wringing out my raincoat. NONETHELESS, I waited another 30 mins for Paul to hit the stage and perform. How's that for a devoted fan....and I don't even particularly care for the Beetles! Yeesh!

The American's and Brit and Australian I met are really great! There's this one guy who hasnt been to L'viv yet and we may be taking a trip there together - if only we can match our schedules.
