Day 3 in Kyiv:
Having recently found out that Paul McCartney was putting on a concert (independence concert) in Kyiv on mainstreet Kreshchatyk TODAY!!! I had to go, just because it's such a neat and rare occurrance. So....I went and yes watched the Paul McCartney perform live (and for FREE) in Ukraine. Aaand, as has been the theme of the last 3 days, it decides to rain starting 2 hours prior to the concert - and I mean not just rain, but torrential downpour - no joke.
Anyhow before the concert I went for supper with some americans, a brit and and australian, they're super fun and then we trekked to the concert - in the torrential downpour, the sky was absolutely black! We climed some big hills wading through water up to our ankles (thank goodness for shorts and sandals!) ...and ended up getting side-soaked by a car that drove by us, oh yeah.
I ended up doing pretty well and was kind of proud of myself in my rain jacket and recently purchased umbrella UNTIL, about 20 mins pre-concert while trying to find a good spot to watch Paul I fall in a moat up to my armpits! Again - no joke. I was following a couple of the guys taking a shortcut through a fountain with calf-deep water...except for the middle portion which I didn't notice and upon stepping into took me in up to my waist. Not expecting such a drop and since the concrete was slippery I proceeded to slide in up to my armpits. Needless to say my umbrella was now uneccessary and I was wringing out my raincoat. NONETHELESS, I waited another 30 mins for Paul to hit the stage and perform. How's that for a devoted fan....and I don't even particularly care for the Beetles! Yeesh!
The American's and Brit and Australian I met are really great! There's this one guy who hasnt been to L'viv yet and we may be taking a trip there together - if only we can match our schedules.

Contact Info Part 1
I'm super excited about having a place in Kyiv to call home for the whole time I'm there...and the name of the street I'll be living on is pretty awesome too, its:
Zhitomirskaya (building 6) (apartment 26) .... I'll be living on the 7th floor and apparently the "lift" isn't working, surprise surprise so I should be getting some good exercise....not that I'd want to take the "lift" anyway they're kind of terrifying and hey at least it's not the 15th floor - I so can't wait to check this out!!
I'll post my postal code shortly after I arrive, and I'm planning to buy a cell phone there so I'll put that up as well. Apparently calling internationally from a Ukrainian cell is super cheap so if you'd like to get ahold of me just give me a ring and I'll call you right back. Hmmm, you may need to wait till I answer though so I can find out who's calling, but I think the cost for a one minute call to a Ukr cell is only about $1.30 or maybe less although trying to establish a connection is sometimes a whole adventure in itself :)

Repentance
I was at national staff conference in Toronto this whole past week, and I loved it, I wish that I could do this kind of thing many more times a year. But anyhow, there are a few huge things going on in my life right now, some alluded to in previous posts and I am struggling greatly with my own impressive strength to resist. That is resist trusting, diving in, so I sit, strung out up against a brick wall, all i have to do is open the door and walk out, but I will not, the uncertainlty and the fear are too real, you see because the window I've been given does not show me the entire path which I am being asked to take, no even all the answers I'd like. I know what I'd like to do, but I don't know how to do it.
So, at the conference, the last morning of our Jonah manuscript study comes to a close, prayer and commissioning coming up and our opportunity to stand if we had something to confess/repent of and just speak that out loud to God. I really didn't want to miss this but I had just finished a white mocha with 2 shots of espresso and I have bladder problems as it is, so I was suffering from drug induced need to pee discomfort....which increases exponentially as each minute goes on. I only had to last 20 more minutes but dang I didn't want to be so uncomfortable and wanted to get absolutely everything out of this time that I could. So, I pray, (one of those half serious throw out prayers that you really don't expect to matter but toss out there anyway) and ask, God please take away this discomfort, make it so I don't have to pee so badly.
Then I sit with growing amazement as I feel the prominent discomfort beginning to dissipate....nope it's really just dissipating with no logical physiological reason. And God says to me, "you don't trust Me", you're afraid to really ask and put all your stakes on me. Yep, no doubt about it, I've been aware of this for quite some time and I know very well that this is one great thing that is holding me back. So I now know what I will say, I stand (near the front of the room of ~250 people, as my table was so fortunately positioned there and simply pray " i repent of my lack of faith, my fear to trust you." So....now I've got to work through this, I'll just have to start by taking it as it comes...because I still dont' have a clue about what to do...except, if God asks I will go, and if He calls I will answer. There may be many temper tantrums and terrified crying episodes, but I'm going to give this a shot. And trust me you'll be hearing about it.
Epilogue....
So the prayer and commissioning time ends, and I have to pee again, every bit as badly as before.
